Medical students at the University of the West Indies Mona campus arenow be able to make significant savings off the cost of their books, with the introduction of a new tablet computer loaded with electronic versions of all their course text books.
Last week, Hon Julian Robinson MP, who is also Minister of State in the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining met with officials of UWI to endorse the initiative, which aims to have 75% of all UWI students using the tablet and its software services by the 2013/2014 academic year. Read more. The Fairview Open Bible Church now offers internet access to residents of Spanish Town through the church's Internet Cafe. The Cafe, located off St John's Road in the old capital, received 25 brand new computers courtesy of the Universal Service Fund, a government agency whose mandate is to provide internet access to all Jamaicans.
