MP Julian Robinson 10th Annual Constituency Report for the year ended 2021For the 10th consecutive year, to mark the anniversary of my election as Member of Parliament, I present the St Andrew South Eastern MP’s Annual Report.
2021 was the second year of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and many of the projects we normally undertake were cancelled due to Government health protocols. Nevertheless, I am proud to share highlights of the initiatives and projects that were able to be executed in 2021, given the restrictions. In 2022, I will continue to represent your concerns and interests, both at the national and community levels. At the end of each calendar year, I produce a report of my activities as Member of Parliament. This represents my 9th annual report since my first election as MP in 2011. This forms part of my commitment to accountability and transparency as a public official. 2020 was particularly challenging due to Covid as a number of our traditional projects (summer camps) had to be cancelled. We pivoted and implemented new initiatives such as free WiFI hotspots. Happy ready. My statement on the ruling by the Supreme Court on the NIDS - April 12, 2019
We are a country of laws not of men.
We do not exult as though we have been victorious.
It is the law that is the victor.
It is the people and Constitution of Jamaica that are the victors.
The real victors are the people of Jamaica as their Constitutional rights have been vindicated.
The decision today is a vindication of the value of the Jamaica Constitution and its Charter on Fundamental Rights and Freedoms and the right that it gives to every Jamaican to ensure that the laws which Parliament enacts are consistent with the Charter of Rights.
The decision clarifies for us all, especially for us as Parliamentarians, our duty to make sure the laws we enact are consistent with the Constitution. A less hurried approach to this legislation would have avoided this process.
The court's ruling is more generally, a critical one, in helping all Jamaicans understand the importance and scope of the new Charter of Rights, and especially rights such as the right to privacy which is protected more fully in the 2011 Charter.
The Court's ruling also gives very importance guidance on the burden on the state to justify limits on the fundamental rights and freedoms in the Charter. It is not that legislation cannot limit these rights but they must be demonstrably justifiable in a democratic society, and that is a high standard.

1st Annual Report to the residents of S.E. St. Andrew
Dear residents,
On this, the first anniversary of my election, which took place on December 29, 2011, I am pleased to report on my stewardship as your Member of Parliament. Although the past year has been a particularly challenging one for us as a country and indeed in the constituency, we have been able to achieve much.
I wish to thank all the constituents of SE St. Andrew for the faith and confidence reposed in me and for your patience and understanding as we work together to build better communities and a strong nation. I also want to commend Councillors Andrew Swaby of the Vineyard Town Division and Kari Douglas of the Trafalgar Division for their support and work over the last year.
In the past year, activities within the constituency have focused on a few key areas, in keeping with commitments I made as a candidate. This is a brief account of the activities and achievements of 2012:
